October was not a good month for my IRA, I lost close to 8% since my last update. Most of my stocks declined despite what was overall a good month for the market. My weakest performer which should come as no surprise has been WM. Bank stocks especially with substantial mortgage exposure have suffered tremendously as credit concerns caused by subprime mortgage persist. The other action I took was liquidate my shares of USPAX. While I continue to optimistic about foreign funds long term, USPAX is not a fund I want to own. I’ve been going through my fund holdings, and dropping all funds with excessive management fees. Low cost funds are the way to go, and I’ve been a little too lax in managing that so far - no longer.
